What is SWEGG?

“Centering Women in Development”
The Savannah Women’s Empowerment Group Ghana (SWEGG) is a registered non-partisan organisation made up of mainly women from the three northern regions of Ghana.


SWEGG’s Objectives
To serve as a women’s movement for northern Ghana to actively advocate for women’s rights and economic justice and active participation in all decision making processes; abolition of negative socio-cultural practices; a forum for the exchange of ideas and strategies in fighting all forms of discrimination against women; a solidarity movement of promoters of gender equality and women’s empowerment.


SWEGG Membership

All those who subscribe to the vision and mission of SWEGG: Community Based Organisations (CBOs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), individuals, national networks or coalitions of civil society or para-statal or government organisations, experts, civil leaders, popular & outstanding persons as agreed by the SWEGG Executive Committee.
